Frequently Asked Questions About Our Training
The CPR class you need depends on your role, workplace requirements, and level of responsibility in an emergency. For most non-healthcare individuals—such as parents, teachers, childcare providers, and fitness professionals—a CPR/AED and First Aid course is appropriate and provides essential life-saving skills for everyday situations.
If you work in healthcare or are required by your employer to maintain certification, you will typically need Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Another option we offer are course with Health & Safety Institute. More advanced roles, such as nurses, paramedics, and critical care providers, may require ACLS or PALS certification.
At KareCore, we offer all levels of CPR and life support training in The Woodlands and College Station, and our instructors can help you choose the correct course based on your profession or goals.
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is a life-saving technique that focuses on chest compressions and rescue breathing for individuals experiencing cardiac arrest. It is commonly taught to the general public and is often combined with AED (automated external defibrillator) and First Aid training.
BLS (Basic Life Support) is a more advanced level of training designed for healthcare professionals. It includes CPR but also covers team-based response, use of a bag-valve mask, airway management, and high-quality resuscitation techniques in clinical settings.
In short, CPR is designed for everyday responders, while BLS is required for those working in healthcare environments.
Most nurses are required to have BLS certification as a minimum requirement, especially those working in hospitals, clinics, or direct patient care roles. BLS ensures competency in high-quality CPR, AED use, and team-based emergency response.
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) is typically required for nurses working in critical care, emergency departments, telemetry units, or other advanced clinical settings. ACLS builds on BLS skills and includes cardiac rhythm interpretation, medication management, and advanced interventions.
At KareCore, we provide both BLS and ACLS certification courses to meet employer and licensing requirements. Houston, and The Woodlands. We also offer virtual/remote Instructor-Led training nationally.

Yes, KareCore offers certification courses through the American Red Cross, including BLS and other advanced life support training options based on availability and program structure.
American Red Cross courses are widely accepted for many healthcare, workplace, and compliance requirements. However, some employers—particularly hospitals and clinical settings—may specifically require certification through the American Heart Association. For this reason, KareCore provides both Red Cross and AHA-aligned training to ensure you meet your employer or licensing requirements.
If you are unsure whether you need ARC or AHA certification, we recommend confirming with your employer or school. Our team is also available to guide you in selecting the correct course based on your role. We offer training in The Woodlands and College Station, as well as onsite options for organizations.
CPR and BLS certifications are typically valid for two years from the date of completion.
After this period, you will need to renew your certification to stay compliant with workplace or licensing requirements. KareCore offers renewal courses for CPR, BLS, ACLS, and PALS to help you maintain your certification without interruption.
Most CPR certification classes can be completed in just a few hours, depending on the course type.
Basic CPR/AED and First Aid classes typically take 2–4 hours, while BLS, ACLS, and PALS courses may take longer due to additional skills and testing requirements. At KareCore, we offer flexible scheduling in The Woodlands and College Station, including same-day certification options for many courses.
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) is often required for healthcare professionals who work with infants and children, including pediatric nurses, emergency personnel, dental teams, and providers in urgent care or hospital settings.
PALS focuses on recognizing and responding to pediatric emergencies, including respiratory distress, shock, and cardiac arrest. It emphasizes early intervention, team-based care, and specialized pediatric treatment protocols.
While not all healthcare roles require PALS, it is strongly recommended—and often mandatory—for those regularly caring for pediatric patients
